One of the reasons I’m building YonerAI is that I don’t want people to face a dangerous AI future without systems they can trust to help protect them. The possibility that AI could threaten humanity’s survival did not begin with today’s headlines. Researchers have been raising these concerns for years. I’ve been thinking about that possibility for a long time, too. The current discussion is not introducing me to a risk I had never considered. It brings me back to a question I was already asking: what can we build in response? Yes, this is personal. I want to be able to protect myself. I want to improve my chances of surviving a dangerous future, even slightly. But I want that possibility of protection to extend to everyone—not just those who can build their own systems. That means working toward trustworthy systems people can actually use, and helping advance common standards for both AI systems themselves and their safeguards. I want protection to work across products, providers, and organizations, rather than remain isolated inside a single platform. This is one part of YonerAI’s broader vision, not its entire purpose. I also want to connect people, intelligence, technology, and organizations so we can create things that would not otherwise exist. I don’t assume catastrophe is inevitable. Nor am I claiming that YonerAI alone can prevent it or guarantee anyone’s survival. But uncertainty is a reason to investigate, build, test, and improve—not a reason to leave people without options. I’m not indifferent to the risks. I want to turn the concerns I’ve carried into systems that can help people, and make those systems widely accessible. I want us to have more power to shape the future—and a better chance of living safely in it. AI must remain yours.
