We have developed an intrinsic allergic reaction to vibe coded UIs. There is nothing inherently “wrong”. In a world where AI didn’t exist, this UI would look basic but fine. But because vibe coding exists, this gives off a sense inauthenticity and cheapness. Unstyled HTML by contrast seems more authentic. As someone who is building in open source, I think the recent hate on OpenClaw is excessive and largely unwarranted. My feeling is that a lot of it really stems from how vibe coded OpenClaw and its associated website and app looks, which was fine a year ago but not now. Compare that to Hermes Agent/nous research which you can tell invested real effort in design. People judge the app by its cover more than ever now.
