“AI Can’t Get Me Real Clients.” 😂 I saw this comic and laughed. Then I realized… a lot of creatives are accidentally living in the first panel. > “AI can’t get me real clients lol.” Meanwhile, AI is in the second panel like: “I’m sorry. It can WHAT?” 😭 The truth is, AI isn't just about generating images, writing captions, or making your work faster. It can expand your reach. But there’s a catch: AI cannot build your reputation for you. It can help you create faster. It can help you research better. It can help you communicate better. It can help you explore ideas you wouldn't have explored before. But you still have to show up. You still have to post your work. You still have to talk about what you know. You still have to connect with people. You still have to make potential clients understand why they should trust you with their brand. And this is something I've been learning personally. As a designer, I don't want to remain comfortable in one corner of the internet. That's one reason I recently subscribed to X. Not because LinkedIn isn't valuable. But because I want to explore. I want to meet different creatives. I want to learn from different people. I want to share my work in different spaces. I want to become a better designer—and ultimately, a designer who can bring more value to clients. Because sometimes, getting clients isn't about shouting: “I'm a designer. Hire me.” Sometimes it's simply about being visible enough that the right person eventually says: “I've been seeing your work. Can you design something for me?” So yes, AI can get you closer to clients. But don't misunderstand the technology. AI isn't the salesperson. AI is the amplifier.
