Over the past few years, I have spent more time learning, attending events, building communities, meeting industry players, and participating in conversations around blockchain and digital assets. One question that kept coming back to me was: “Adakah Malaysia sudah ketinggalan?” The more I become involved in the ecosystem, the more I believe the answer is not necessarily. Yes, other countries may appear to be moving faster. Some have more established ecosystems, larger investments, stronger infrastructure, or greater adoption. But we also need to remember one thing: This industry is still early. Digital assets, tokenisation, stablecoins, Real-World Assets (RWA), blockchain infrastructure and digital finance are still evolving. The regulatory frameworks, business models, talent, infrastructure and public understanding are still being developed. That means Malaysia still has an opportunity. The opportunity is not simply to follow what other countries are doing. It is to identify where Malaysia can contribute and position itself within the wider ASEAN digital economy. For me, this journey has also changed from simply learning about blockchain to participating in the ecosystem. Through community initiatives, meetups, Malaysia Blockchain Week, MyDAC, MySekolahKripto and various industry engagements, I have had the opportunity to meet founders, builders, investors, regulators, academics and community members. And one lesson continues to stand out: Technology creates possibilities, but ecosystems are built by people, trust and collaboration. I am documenting this journey because I want to remember where we were at this point in time. Perhaps years from now, we will look back and realise that 2026 was still the early chapter. The most important question is not: “Are we behind?” But: “What are we going to build while the opportunity is still early?” Malaysia belum tertinggal lagi. Bidang ini masih awal.
