Marketer in New York.
Since I’ve been funemployed for almost two months now, I thought I’d reintroduce myself: Hi, I’m Maya! -I brainwashed myself into becoming an extrovert 2 years ago and it’s my whole personality now -My favorite thing to do is connect people so I love hosting events & I am a freelance event curator for startups -Posting content online has been the single best decision I ever made and has contributed to every opportunity I’ve received since (very gratefully so) -I’ve read the DSM-5 cover to cover bc every adhd doctor I’ve ever had has failed me (yes it was not that helpful). But now I’ve learned how to self manage my adhd / turn it into a strength. -I started a tech fraternity in college. I was also a club promoter in college. Both conveniently have a lot of transferable skills to the start up world. -I love consumer startup marketing. I like approaching it from a human perspective - leveraging irl events, community, creators, and having a grassroots strategy rather than paid ads, cold outbound, & gimmicky tactics (yes I’m aware there’s a need for both) -The one thing in my whole life that brings me the most joy and fulfillment is Muay Thai, but sadly I broke my elbow 2 years ago training for my first fight and have been searching for that joy in something else ever since. -My health is very important thing to me and understanding my body + root causes to symptoms has become my life’s mission. I urge everyone to never put their work before their health. I’m trying to figure out what’s next - do I jump back into start ups, just do content, just do events, build a consumer app, work in mktg at a larger company where I can learn a lot, work in VC where I can work with a lot of startups, move to Bali and start Muay Thai again, or…?? Would love any advice / ideas / feedback and would love to connect with anyone in similar spaces <3
