Founder in New York.

Pinned · the post that put Luka on the map · Jul 7, 2026

In the past few weeks I’ve noticed a lot of founders looking for a cofounder. They post: *COFOUNDER WANTED* which is probably what I’d do as well… It’s logical, right? How else do you pitch it? But the more I think about it, the more I think that that is such a crazy question to ask someone. It’s actually ridiculous in a funny way. It’s asking someone to go from (probably) a mundane job, a 9–5 or something pretty ordinary and boring to this high powered, turbo emotion filled rollercoaster where they have to dedicate 5–7 years of hard work, happiness, delusion, hell (possibly a psychologist), tears (I’ve cried) and everything in between. It’s a bit of an ironic question to ask lol. It’s like saying: “hey boring person, wanna’ build a company? You’ll have a lot of fun and you’ll own a fat amount of equity but you’ll also lose your mind. You’re guaranteed to lose your girlfriend/boyfriend and you can forget your friends. You’ll fall asleep and wake up thinking of the business and you’ll be paid shit for about 2–3 years. The chances of us succeeding? Ah, screw the stats. Let’s change the world!” And often times (if you’re lucky), you actually find this delusional naive normal person that is interested in joining, so they say “yeah let’s do it” without actually having any idea of what they’re getting into (it’s their fault at that point ). And then a few months later you really get to know this person (and yourself). And this person (or everyone) either loses their mind or you realize that they’re a complete lunatic that you can’t work with. So then 2 things happen. You either split (you’re more likely to die of suicide than murder ) or you embrace the lunacy and somehow get through the struggles to actually build something that people want and that grows and takes a life of it’s own. It’s really exciting. I’m a founder myself. And my startup started pretty much the same way. I had no idea what I was getting into. And if I knew what problems that were awaiting us, I probably wouldn’t have started. But hey, I’ve gotten through a lot of hell and a lot of great moments and I’m sure there’s much more hell (and high points) that will hit us. Every moment is beautiful. And I’m super happy for you. It’s the bravest thing you can do. But when I read “cofounder wanted” i just think to myself: what a fucking crazy question to ask someone.
