Operator in United Kingdom.

Pinned 路 the post that put Gareth on the map 路 Sep 15, 2026

I鈥檓 a business owner. I run a small signage firm from the UK. Looking to connect with builders, indie hackers and AI makers. I鈥檝e been watching this wave of intros and I love it. I love seeing people ship, introduce themselves, and try to turn an idea into something real. I want you to succeed with my whole heart. I鈥檓 posting because I want to help, and because builders need feedback from the people they are actually trying to sell to. I鈥檓 one of you in spirit. I build every day. I just happen to own the customer as well. The customer is me. That changes the view. I鈥檓 not looking for another product to adopt. I鈥檓 building the system that runs my company: the processes, the task sheets, the constraints, the way work actually moves through the firm. I do that because I have learned that when I bring in third-party software I usually have to change how the business works to fit the tool. I don鈥檛 like that. The process is the business. Software should sit inside it, not the other way around. That is not a theory for me. It is the reason I don鈥檛 buy a lot of SaaS. Not because the builders are bad. Often the opposite. The product is clever, the code is good, the demo is impressive. Then it arrives in a real operation and the assumption is that I will bend the work to match the product. I won鈥檛. I have staff, jobs, customers, and a way of doing things that already gets work out the door. If the tool asks me to become a different company in order to use it, I put it down. I may be completely wrong. Plenty of owners buy the thing, change the process, and it works. I鈥檓 not claiming I have the truth. I鈥檓 offering the other side of the table. If you are building for people like me, this is one reason the sale dies after the demo. Not because we don鈥檛 understand software. Because we understand the cost of changing the work. So I鈥檓 here for feedback. Push back. Tell me where I鈥檓 missing it. Ask me what would actually get bought. If what you are building only works when the customer changes their process, that is useful to know before you spend another year on it. If there is a way to sit inside an existing operation instead of replacing it, that is the conversation I want. I want you to win. That is the whole point of writing this. One last thing, because I don鈥檛 hide it: I write with AI. These words are not mine. The sentiment is. This is how I communicate. If that bothers you, fair enough. If it doesn鈥檛, say hello.
