He makes massively multiplayer websites that have convinced millions of strangers to interact in novel, constrained ways. He knows that the internet can still be fun. The formula is deceptively plain: take one ordinary web element, a checkbox, a chessboard, a caps lock key, give it to everyone at once, and remove almost every other affordance. What people do inside that constraint is the artwork. He's been building for the web since March 2023, writes a detailed blog about how each piece was made, and open-sources nearly all of it. He also has a parallel habit of smuggling games into software that shouldn't run them: Flappy Bird inside macOS Finder, Wordle in the Firefox address bar, brickbreaker inside Google Calendar that declines the meetings you destroy, pong distributed across 240 unclosed browser tabs.
