Founder in United States.
Is AI your second founding? For us, it was. Our VC firm went through a second founding. Not for fun. Not for positioning… out of necessity. At the end of 2021, we faced an internal crisis that shook the foundation of our firm. Then came the 2022 correction. Together, they nearly broke us. The only way through was change. And only a founder could have made the changes I drove. But I didn’t do it alone. The people around me made it possible. Especially @pimepardo, my co-founder. By the end of 2022, we were back on our feet. Barely. But something shifted. Our focus was not survival anymore. Then came AI. In early 2023, Jimena and I made a call: we would go all-in on AI applications. Not partly. Not gradually. Fully. Immediately. That decision reshaped everything… our strategy, our filters, our culture. It eventually led to our new name: @hi_ventures_. AI was our second founding. And we weren’t the only ones. We started to see it all around us. Founder friends. Portfolio companies. Startups big and small. Some pivoted softly, others reinvented from scratch. But something was clearly happening… especially in Latin America. A wave of reinvention. A growing sense that this moment could belong to us too. Second foundings aren’t new… they’ve always been part of the entrepreneurial journey. What’s different this time is the scale of the shift. Pivots usually follow the discovery curve of a single company. This one feels bigger, like a whole new map. It’s more than a strategy change. It’s a mindset reset. A new mission. A new horizon. A return of day one energy. But this time, you get to keep the wisdom, the brand, the scars, the team. It’s day one… with leverage. So here’s a long post with a simple ask: if you’re in Latin America and building your own second founding with AI, reach out. We want to hear your story. We want to meet people like you… founders with energy and experience, vision and resilience. And if the stars align, maybe your second founding becomes our second chance to partner with you. Feel free to tag or send to friends. We’d love to talk.
