I had a gut feeling Blockchain Mages would rug and I feel bad for not speaking up. I'm one of the more opinionated founders in web3 & recently I've been doing my best to be more cordial with games since, at the end of the day, we're all here to push the space forward. That being said... anyone with an ounce of game dev knowledge could have seen the Blockchain Mages demo was a copy/paste from a Unity tutorial on Youtube. I personally have spun up their game mechanics for a test in a few hours during my Video Game Development class in high school (lol). Not to mention, tech has massively improved and we now have YouTube University. I've even shown a screenshot of 3 videos where you can make their exact game just with different art🤦‍♂️ Unfortunately, most of the NFT community aren't gamers, so to the naked eye it looked like nothing was wrong. The rest of us knew the game was nothing more than a few YouTube videos away from square 0. The reason I didn't say anything was because I didn't want to receive "hate" from all the bag holders of the project. Being a founder in the space I (believe it or not) usually withhold my opinions about gaming since people's bags can literally blind them into supporting a scam. It was simply not worth it for me to call this out and risk losing support for my project, even if it may have been the right thing to do. I honestly feel bad for not at least mentioning this to people, but I also realize its not my responsibility and I should keep focusing on my own project. I guess at the end of the day it just sucks to see another game rug since web3 games already have a reputation that is bad enough. I feel for those that held multiple mages, and I want to thank EVERY GAME who is building in web3 with clear intentions. Small bump in the road... now let's build for real🤝📈
