Inspired by @0xMackenzieM and @shealtielanzz, I wanted to share a bit of my journey and why I decided to start “post-learning”. I had many dark moments before arriving to web3. Even though I did everything “right” until graduating in quant TradFi, I hated the idea of every job path in front of me. Nothing felt like mine. So I tried everything, ranging from Airbnb hosting to classical pianism, and thanks to the finance degree I even was for some time a math teacher in a local high school… but I never felt like I had arrived where I should be. I did discover a deep love for math, but at 26 another degree felt impossible. I needed to earn a living, and I had no idea what a math degree would even lead to. In March 2025, while I was still teaching, I asked ChatGPT what high-paying hourly jobs could give me free time to study math. It listed data science, other boring stuff I don't even remember and... smart contract security. I had barely heard of web3 beyond Bitcoin/Ethereum, but I started digging. Slowly at first. Then accelerating. It didn’t take long to realise that this is what I wanted to do. Meritocracy. Protecting a space that can give future generations access to non-custodial, decentralized financial systems. A field where curiosity and work ethic matter more than titles or your country of origin. I really started my journey in August, and in such a short time I’ve learned more than I expected and I've witnessed incredible discipline and work ethic in many different forms. Reading the stories of people like @0xFlint_ and @shealtielanzz made me realise something important: even though I’m a shy person, I want to start building in public. I want to share the journey and maybe motivate other new SRs like me. So, short story long, here are my personal goals: i) become a strong security researcher and find bugs for a living ii) earn my math undergrad degree from @OpenUniversity (starting part-time in Feb 2026!) My practical learning goals for the next learning epoch: - complete the @RareSkills_io ZK Book - become proficient in Rust and Python - build a solid foundation in CS and AI fundamentals If you’re on your own learning journey, in SR or anything else... I’d love to connect. Let’s build a better, fairer world together!!
