Have you ever had to extend your launch or miss a deadline because of procrastination? Staying on track is hard for founders. But, with sound accountability systems, reaching your goals can become more manageable. The perks? • Genuine connections • A growing business • Peace of mind Here are 4 systems for accountability to stay on track and get 💩 done: 1️⃣ Building in Public Sharing your work helps. Think of two founders. Founder A keeps everything secret, while Founder B shares his work online. Founder B gets advice, makes friends, and gets noticed. The result? He learns faster and builds real relationships. Check out Alex at Groove, known as @imperfectstrtup, who's taking building in public to the next level. 2️⃣ Accountability Groups and Masterminds Working together fosters growth. Imagine two founders. One works alone, and the other joins a support group. The second one gets different viewpoints, encouragement, and feels better during hard times. This friendship helps him move forward. I stumbled upon @GrowFasterCo led by @samuelthompson, almost a year ago. It has helped me grow faster and is one of my favorite calls of the week. 3️⃣ Investor Updates Talking to investors helps. Take two founders. One keeps investors guessing, the other updates them regularly. The talkative founder builds trust, gets helpful tips, and has a good relationship with investors. The bonus? Strong support in good and bad times. I'm not going to lie; I hated writing these for our investors when I oversaw Product and Strategy. However, I can deny how the exercise was a forcing mechanism for accountability. 4️⃣ Advisory Board Extra advice spots mistakes. Picture a founder working alone versus one with an advisory board. The second founder gets important feedback, sees hidden problems, and learns from others. This helps make decision-making faster and improves the business. Having a business is optional to build your own personal board of advisory. Multiple types of mentoring platforms have made it easier than ever to find 1:1 support. If you've made it this far, dive deeper by checking out the Bootstrapped Founder podcast by @arvidkahl. Employing these accountability systems will aid in keeping you on track, growing your network, and advancing your business. Each step actively contributes to not only your personal growth but also the sustainable development of your venture. Recap: Building in Public: Action: Share your progress online to gain feedback and build a supportive community. Accountability Groups and Masterminds: Action: Join a group or mastermind to share challenges and gain diverse insights. Investor Updates: Action: Regularly update investors to build trust and receive valuable advice. Advisory Board: Action: Form an advisory board for feedback and to identify unseen hurdles.
