Build in Public - Honest Monthly Review: May 2025 May was a beautiful chaos. My first full month after quitting my job to go all-in on my startup. I was loving it so much... I just couldn’t stop working 😄 🔥 Key Highlights: 🔹 Launched 2 pre-MVP waves 🔹 Worked ~12 hours/day (80% dev, 15% marketing, 5% learning) 🔹 From 0 to 17 waitlist subscribers (they say 0→10 is the hardest - agreed) 🔹 6 feedback calls with users - full of insights and motivation 🔹 Value hypothesis: validated (and refined) 🛠 Development I spent time carefully evolving the tech stack - choosing the right tools fit for purpose. (DM me if you want to debate these choices 😄) Frontend: Next.js 14 (App Router) Styling: Tailwind CSS Authentication: Clerk AI Models: OpenAI + Mistral Database: PostgreSQL (Neon) ORM: Prisma UI/UX: Figma Hosting & Deployment: Vercel Analytics: PostHog Email Marketing: ConvertKit 📣 Marketing Honestly, I didn’t spend as much time on this as I planned... I was enjoying coding so much. Stats: – 40,000+ impressions (across platforms) – 138 visits to the waitlist landing page – 17 waitlist subscribers – 6 user calls 📚 Learning Not much structured learning - but lots of learning by doing. – Prompt engineering – Color theory – HTML, CSS, JS (refresher) – ES6 + modern JS – React + Next.js – RAG basics 🧘♂️ Founder Habits I quit morning chai... and wow, didn’t realize how addicted I was 😂 Time spent this month: – Power walks: 500 mins – Asana & Pranayama: 240 mins – Yoga Nidra: 400 mins – Meditation: 0 mins 😅 (let’s fix that in June) What’s coming in June: – Build core functionality (every landing page = unique, conversion-focused copy + design) – Launch the 3rd pre-MVP wave – Hit 100 waitlist subscribers – Run cold DM outreach campaign – Begin planting SEO seeds For the uninitiated: Hi, I’m Sushant... 35, living in Amsterdam.
